There seem to be a few people in Sheffield interested in getting something going and Transition Towns are on the agenda of the Tuesday 13th May meeting of the Sheffield Campaign Against Climate Change, http://lti.jot.com/ which is to be held in Highfield Library, 7.30 – 9.30 pm -- see the note at the end of the March meeting minutes: http://lti.jot.com/WikiHome/Get%20involved

Hello Chris
I'd be very interested to know about any Transition moves in Sheffield - hope something started happening as a result of the meeting you mention.
I'm part of the mulling Transition Chesterfield group, which has existed for a few months now and is in the early days of awareness raising and networking. It would be great to share stories and resources locally, so do get in touch! We also have links to the Transition groups in Nottingham, Buxton and Matlock, creating a bit of a mini network.
Our only web presence so far is a yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transitiontownchesterfield/
Good luck
Jessie

Sorry I should have posted this here sooner -- we have ended up putting on some film screenings, 3 films in 3 areas with the hope of generating enough interest to get some local groups going.

There were 20 people at the first screening and 25 at the one last night.

Hi Chris
Nottingham seems very similar to Sheffield in a lot of ways so feel free to get in touch via info@transitionnottingham.org.uk if you want to have a chat etc.Posted 1 year ago # -
Hi - I would be really interested in setting up an initiative for the S11 area of Sheffield. there are quite a few local community groups going on in the area, As a starting point, I was thinking about going and talking to them - try to get some more support. anyone interested?
S11 would be a great area to try, as i think there would be a lot of interest in this sort of thing.
thanks

Yeah I agree. Hunter's Bar is quite an alternative minded community. We're gaining more experience as these film shows go on so it would be that much easier to help start up in another area if you wanted to have some film screenings. If you could find a cheap or free venue then all that's needed is some publicity - which can cost a bit plus needs some time for say leaflet distribution.
