We've just recruited Ed Mitchell to project manage the first phase of this initiative. He's got 4 elements to this phase:

    - build the teams and set up project infrastructure (comms, wiki, chat etc)
    - establish requirements
    - assess possible solutions
    - make recommendations

He should be done some time in April.

He'll be communicating to many of the people who have contributed to these "platform" forums as he goes through this process.

    Ben.

  2. Excellent! Look forward to some movement here.

Are there any physical meetings planned over the next few months? It always helps to talk face to face. I'm happy to contribute either way.

    Cheers Daniel

  3. ... so far - i think i've checked out & deleted every blog, forum, RSS, google-group, yahoo, ning nong, ping pong, dingaling, word press, PP HSBC, ninja, chit chat room, guest book room, virtual aviator, all singing & dancing html cascading style council...

...*deep breathe...* web communication device there is.

so you see, i've managed to confuse myself awfully well; however, never before have i found the simplicity of a pencil to be so... ahhhhhh

  4. Hi all,

movement there shall be, both physical and virtual. :)

Ben and I have been putting together a framework for this phase - to get to recommendations in April - which I will be sharing later this week (there has been much whiteboard action and a pencil or two actually).

The point of said framework is to get a range of conversations and activities in motion including strategy stuff (e.g. purpose, goals, delivery models, assessment, principles), technical (features, functions, prototyping), and social (people, groups, stories, needs based on groups' practicalities etc). As well as this, the type of conversation is important - if it's a high level big picture one or a detailed intricate analytical detailed one - so we all know what's going on and where and how to add useful input (including that of the confused person).

We're going to take the conversations off the TT forum here as we don't want to flood it with this stuff, but I'll keep it as simple as possible...

More anon and thanks and all that :)

You can simply create another free forum on forumup.co.uk which has a more familiar feel than this one.

I did register for this project but never got a confirmation email back.

  6. Hi all,

we've got to a point of readiness with the web project now; apologies for the apparent silence but we needed to make sure that the basic model was good and do-able, and that we'd spoken with as many people as possible (e.g. Transition US are kicking off a web project and we needed to talk to them to make sure we're all pulling together)...

I will be writing up the plan later today and posting it on the forum here.
