Our Mission Statement:
'' Transition Town Whitstable aims to reduce its carbon footprint and dependency on fossil fuels. We will achieve our aim by:-
- Mobilising community action
- Raising awareness, providing information and empowering action
- Networking with groups and people already engaged in these issues
- Identifying and setting up positive action projects to reduce our carbon footprint and dependency on fossil fuels
- Creating a plan for the future - an Energy Descent Action Plan''
We are an active and ever-increasing group with a lively programme of events. We regularly host
film evenings at the Horsebridge Centre Whitstable and
social evenings at the Duke of Cumberland on the 2nd Monday of each month for exchange of ideas and networking. Meet at back of pub (next to restaurant area which does not operate on Mondays) from 7.30pm. We are also developing working groups with special interests. Come and meet us soon!

Dec 2007 Powerdown Party 2008 - February: Public Open Meeting - "Planning a path to a low energy high life!" Film: "End of Suburbia" at Whitstable Horsebridge Centre April Film: "The Power of Community" Horsebridge Centre Whitstable, Film "Money is Debt" at Whitstable Horsebridge Centre May / June: Social evenings at Duke of Cumberland, Whitstable - a regular event on the second Monday of each month. June: at Horsebridge Centre Whitstable - Energy solutions evening. Greenpeace film "A Convenient Truth", followed by talk on self-build energy systems. A Foraging Trail - from Whitstable Farmers' Market to the beach. Learn about edible plants on this trail! Tue July 15 7.30pm Urban Food and Permaculture evening - at Horsebridge Centre, Whitstable. Films on Forest and Urban Gardening; Permaculture talk, bring and buy, information tables and social networking.

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH FAVERSHAM are showing the film 'The Power of Community' at the Guildhall in Faversham on Tuesday 22nd July at 7.30. The film will be followed by a discussion on the opportunities for growing and eating local food in Faversham. Please do join us for this stimulating evening. Donations towards hire of the hall would be welcome.
