TRANSITION TOWN TAYPORT

are a group of Tayport people who are concerned about peak oil and climate change and their subsequent effects on the Tayport community. TTT want to start addressing these issues with some 'ground up' initiatives which involves people from the Tayport community giving their time, skill and knowledge.

VIRAL GARDENING

There are lots of gardens in Tayport that are at best underused, at worst neglected. This seems to us a sad state of affairs when this land could be used to produce the very freshest, local organic produce with virtually no food miles. At the same time there are people who would like to be growing some of their own food but are hampered by lack of time, space or skill. We would like to remedy this situation. If you have a garden but are not making the most of it due to lack of time, skill or fitness we can probably put you in touch with someone who can help, whether by doing the gardening for you, or by sharing the garden with you and teaching you on the job. If you know something about gardening but lack the space to put it into practice, we will try to put you in touch with someone who has the space but needs help with it. Even if you lack both space and skill, we can probably still help, provided you are willing to dedicate some time to learning and accept that this will involve a certain amount of donkey work! We are also interested in recruiting volunteer mentors, people who have some gardening skills and would be willing to share them with others, whether or not this involved the sharing of any land.

TRANSITION TENT

On the 11th of July the Transition Tent goes up at the Tayport festival fun day. We are aiming to promote the transition concept, recycling, composting, local and organic produce, energy saving and creation.
