SITE 08’s first Mobile Open Studio! ROVING STUDIO rolls up and opens its doors on common ground as travelling gallery, venue & workshop, from restored classic Bedford ‘J’ type truck. This launch presents ‘The Art of Transition’ and offers a prelude to ‘The Art of Motion’ project, which explores the art & science of early projected & moving image through low-tech contraptions using pedal-powered, wind and solar energy.
TRANSITION STROUD is a network organisation for local groups who are working on the transition to a low carbon re-localised lifestyle.
…THE ART OF TRANSITION brings together textilers and artists for some collective free range creativity on common ground. As social artists, we reach out to inspire, inform and invigorate:
Textillation: Textilers and artists will be fabricating live a low-impact ‘extallation’ with allusions to shelter, local textile history & common land rights.
Exhibition: Works from contributing artists A public ‘airing’ of actions & intentions of Transition Stroud groups.
Interactive Creativity:
· Create a looping visual transition of your own from first image to last: Make simple animation strips and spin them to life in a zoetrope!
· Kaleidoscope your perspective on the land!
· Move things by pedal-power!
