Sampford Peverell and District Sustainable Villages
A Transition Initiative
We became an official Transition Initiative in November 2008 joining hundreds of other groups across Britain and the rest of the world.
We cover seven rural village in an area of Mid Devon namely
- Sampford Peverell,
- Halberton,
- Uplowman,
- Holcombe Rogus,
- Hockworthy,
- Burlescombe,
- Westleigh.
We believe that by tackling the situation together we will find enough creative genius within our communities to build a future that is less dependent on energy yet is more fulfilling one for ourselves, our children and grandchildren. At the moment we have a steering committee with representatives from most of the villages and a expanding network of interested individuals as we are becoming more well known in the area. We have put on films talks and local events to stimulate thought, activity and discussion to bring a greater awareness about being more sustainable communities. You will see that we have a programme of activities that will be regularly updated on this website and advertised locally.
