What's happening in New Zealand?
There are several towns in New Zealand, who have been active in various forms of peak oil and climate change education, and localisation initiatives. While the Transition Town title has not been assumed by these towns yet, it seems likely that in the near future many of these towns will formalise their adoption of this excellent model.

A great deal of interest was generated at the recent Eco Show in Taupo, at which Richard Heinberg was present and the keynote speaker. During the course of the three day show, two 2-hour workshops were held on the subject of Transition Towns, and over 130 people had the opportunity to share ideas, hopes, dreams and visions.
Discussion was had about a national facilitator to support Transition Town initiatives, and James Samuel has assumed this role for the moment.
Thanks to Deep Green for recording and streaming Richard Heinberg's talks in Orewa, prior to the eco show.
Conclusion
Conversations are underway with organisers in the UK, to find out how to best facilitate communities in New Zealand embracing this TT model. In preparation for this you might like to view the criteria for becoming a Transition Town - they make great reading.
