What's happening in New Zealand?

There are many towns in New Zealand, who are active in various forms of peak oil and climate change education, and localisation initiatives. The Transition Town model is now being embraced widely in NZ.

In November last year a Wiki was setup for NZ towns exploring Transition Towns. Visit the site at www.transitiontowns.org.nz

A great deal of interest was generated in October last year at the Eco Show in Taupo, at which Richard Heinberg was present and the keynote speaker. During the course of the three day show, two 2-hour workshops were held on the subject of Transition Towns, and over 130 people had the opportunity to share ideas, hopes, dreams and visions.

Discussion was had about a national facilitator to support Transition Town initiatives, and James Samuel has assumed this role for the moment.

Thanks to Deep Green for recording and streaming Richard Heinberg's talks in Orewa, prior to the Eco Show.
