Green Communities Local Support Representative

Heather Gott works for the Energy Saving Trust in Wallasey. Heather has contacted Transition South Liverpool to see if we would be interested in the Green Communities programme which has just been launched.

Green Communities is a new project set up to help community groups in Merseyside & Cheshire who are interested in the environment and in reducing their carbon dioxide emissions. more info

The Green Communities programme can support communities in gathering information to generate a baseline of energy used data within the community. This baseline can then be used to support community members to install energy saving measures available to them i.e. loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation, solar hot water etc. to reduce the communities ‘carbon footprint’. As Green Communities officer Heather can also support other energy saving projects such as walking busses, car share schemes, smarter driving, sourcing grants and incorporating renewable energy technologies in community buildings etc.

Heather has been tasked with working closely with 2 communities this year, one in Merseyside and one in Cheshire.Heathers tasks include:
•Dedicate 1 day a week for approx 18 months.
•help find funding and training that the community may wish to access to help them in reaching the energy saving targets they set
•provide each household within the community with a free personalized home energy report
•run awareness sessions on reducing energy use, sustainable transport options and renewable technologies
•provide articles for community websites/ newsletters
•attend local meetings to advise on setting up a green group within the community.
