Meeting Sunday 7th June 2009 at Mello Mello
Guy Anderson will be talking about a new Energy Audit Scheme for either home/business/community which is being launched. For more info: http://www.parityecosolutions.com/
You can also look at YouGen: http://www.yougen.co.uk) which aims to make it easy for people who are interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency to work out which is the most appropriate technology for their home, and to find a supplier they can trust to install it.
The finding a trusted supplier element of the site relies on people who have already taken energy efficiency measures or installed renewable energy technologies sharing what they’ve learned and (if they did a good job) recommending their supplier.
Yougen write: "Of course, people can also go to YouGen to find information about energy efficiency and renewable energy. We specialise in giving practical advice that aims to give people a realistic understanding of what they can expect so they don’t make a large investment in something that won’t work for them. We have experts who regularly add practical advice through our renewable energy blog."

Notes from October 14th meeting here
We are hoping to hold meetings monthly on the second Tuesday of each month. Information will be posted here once available.
NEWS
We are hoping to invite Merseyside Environmental Trust to come and speak in the new year. They will be able to provide us with up-to-date information on grants and renewables as well as other ways to reduce bills and energy consumption.
The second meeting took place on Tuesday 9 September. We decided to investigate the information available locally regarding ways to conserve energy and therefore reduce bills. We also decided to contact the city council to arrange a meeting to discuss ways to get involved in Liverpool's Year of the Environment 2009. (Note fromthis meeting to be published shortly. - I've actually found them, but now need to type them up. Karen.)
The first Energy Group meeting took place on Tuesday 22 July. Read notes from this meeting.
- Following on from the first meeting, Karen Lucas, produced an Energy Directory, which we hope to build upon over time. This directory is a wealth of information and will a great starting point for all of us in increasing our awareness of what can be done in the area of energy.
- At the last meeting, Claire mentioned a journal that had a special issue on community energy projects. You can access it here. It's issue 78 in the journal NS.
- The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) held a 2-day Community Energy Transition seminar from 16-18 August. Some of our Liverpool group attended and will give some feedback from the event at the next Energy group meeting. (You can read the programme here.)
In the energy group, some of the areas we are keen to explore are as follows:
- Green supplier credentials
- Organising a trip to CAT
- What is involved in building a windmill
- Possibility of arranging for bulk discounts for solar panels etc
- Energy Service Companies (ESCOs)
- Setting up a 'surgery' for people, perhaps once a month, to assist with completing forms for grants, and giving advice on how best to heat their homes
- Encouraging Public Institutions to change to green energy
- Engaging with businesses and households to encourage greater energy efficiency
If you are knowledgable, experienced or interested in any of these or related areas, please come along.
