Who We Are

Transition Town Lewes has grown into its next stage.

The core group which founded TTL has dissolved itself. They did a great job in getting the project of the ground - but now, in its place, we have a flat structure, with no hierarchy. No single person is in charge - instead we all take responsibility for results.

TTL is made up of a series of groups - formed around themes like energy, waste, food, business etc. Other groups deal with things like the programme of public events, internal and external communication and so on.

Each group has a contact point. See Transition groups for the full list of groups and contact points. Feel free to get in touch.

These groups work together to build community resilience – responding to the twin issues of climate change and peak oil. They:

  • Understand how their area affects and is affected by climate change and peak oil.
  • Create a long-term vision for what a better life in Lewes would look like, in their area; probably, it will include more localisation, far less waste and CO2 emissions, and decreased dependency on oil.
  • Identify practical steps to get us there.
  • Start practical projects to kick-start the process.

See the individual pages of each group for more details.

All of this is underpinned by a set of common aims and principles, which guide how we work. These keep us together as one big group, working together towards common goals and objectives.

Our Aims and Principles are at: Our Aims.

If you'd like to join us, or just find out more, please feel free - see Contact us for more details.
