Zoe Nicholson, zoe.nicholson@virgin.net.
The Project Facilitator Support group formed to do what it says: to support the newly appointed TTL Project Facilitator (Kate Toller).
We work closely with the Project Facilitator. We have objectives and responsibilities that are shared with the Project Facilitator - there are also objectives/responsibilities that specific. These are described in draft form under the headings below:
Our shared objectives include:
- Meeting TTL's purpose statement.
- Working with TTL's Principles (and where necessary helping to evolve the Principles).
- Ensuring the Project Facilitator does her role and does it well.
- Ensuring the Project Facilitator enjoys and learns from carrying out her role.
Our shared responsibilities include:
- Effective and clear communication amongst us all, including openness and honesty at all times.
- Appropriate communication to the rest of TTL about all things to do with the PF role (what it does, how it is working etc).
- Ensuring there are jointly agreed and realistic objectives for the role.
- Ensuring there is a practical workable and feedback/appraisal system for the Project Facilitator.
The Project Facilitator's specific responsibilities in relation to the PFSG include:
- Doing the role properly and to the best of their ability.
- Where necessary, evolving the role or redefining it. This only needs to be negotiated with the PFSG at a high-level/broadly only.
- Taking responsibility for their own professional and personal development within the role.
- Taking responsibilty for all logistical/HR/administrative and other issues relating to the role.
- Being proactive in all the above.
The PFSG's specific responsibilities include:
- Helping enable the Project Facilitator's professional development.
- Helping enable the Project Facilitator's access to any resources (including contacts, information) they may need.
- Giving regular and clear feedback to the Project Facilitator.
- Performing regular appraisal of the Project Facilitator.
- Agreeing/negotiating any changes to the role definition.
- Giving whatever support (coaching, mentoring, advice or whatever) is needed.
- Being a good "employer" - that is ensuring best practice standards for employment are met (ensuring the Project Facilitator gets paid on time etc).
- Working where necessary to add to or modify the whole TTL system so that the Project Facilitator can be successful in their role.
How we would know if the Project Facilitator role had been successful -
success criteria for the TTL Project facilitator are:
- Grow the active involvement in TTL.
- Grow the broader enthusiasm for TTL in Lewes.
- Ensure that more of the processes involved in running TTL become more systematic (and therefore take less effort).
- Build new connections and improve the quantity and quality of the connections in the network and around it.
- Enable further learning within the TTL network.
- Ensure sufficient funds can be secured to enable TTL activities to continue into 2009 and beyond.
- Identify issues within the TTL system and work with others to facilitate their solution.
