The business group is a fairly informal, lively and practical group of people all based in or around Lewes, and all sharing an interest in increasing the town's strength and resilience in relation to the twin issues of climate change and peak oil.
We are working together on positive, business-related initiatives including the creation of an Energy Descent Action Plan. So far we have started work on several projects - see Business Projects for more details. Two of these are well underway:
- LoveLewes.com, is a gateway to information on Climate Change and Peak Oil for local businesses.
- our business survey, is a way to engage more fully with the local business community.
We're always keen to include more business people in the group. So if you run or work in a business in Lewes or the surrounding area, please feel free to get in touch, especially if you’d like to:
- Prepare your business for the future.
- Understand the potential risks and opportunities from increasing and volatile carbon energy prices, reducing costs of renewable energy and changing consumer demands.
- Discover new market opportunities brought about by climate change and peak oil.
- Strengthen and expand links with the Lewes community – both business and household.
- Share ideas and best practice to reduce emissions (and costs) and increase energy efficiency.
- Give something back to the (business) community.
