Minutes from 1st Transition Town Lewes Arts Group at Lewes Arms Public House on Thursday 14 June 2007

In attendants;

Janette Scott Holly Wood Chloe Alexander Andi Mindell Gloria Baker Rapaella Saphir Carolyn Piets

Individuals talked for 2 mins as a form of introduction and explained their interests in the arts.

Chloe spoke about her idea to introduce school children to sketchbooks as a means of re engaging them with their real world in order to get them away from computers, tv’s etc. The idea of using sketchbooks not just for drawing but as a 3d space to collect inspirational items to further nurture the relationship that can be formed between artist and sketchbook.

Gloria mentioned the need to help the relationship between Lewes News and TTL in order to better use this vital source of local literature and TTL cartoons or similar could do that.

Gloria presented the group with a well thought out proposal for a TTL calender, inspired by a Matthew Rice calender that aids those new to life in the countryside learn more of life’s natural cycles, when to plant things, when to preserve things etc. Gloria suggested that the TTL calender could be a collaboration of local artists for each different month and have TTL related messages to accompany each picture, it would also serve as a central pool for events specific to Lewes to happen every year.

The TTL party on 7 July was discussed in terms of how the arts group could play a part at this stage in its development. It was concluded that as an art piece blank wall paper would be hung in the space and attendees would be invited to contribute comments drawings etc.

The next meeting was set for Monday 16 July, 7.30pm Lewes Arms Public House, Lewes The topic of the next meeting is Ideas, the wealth of amazing things the arts group could achieve for the TTL programme Please email Janette or Holly if you are able to attend or would like us to forward your comments at this meeting;
