Ideas into Action - Start Here!

Do you have an idea which you think might be an ideal candidate for a Transition Town Lewes Project? Here’s a checklist to help you bring your idea to fruition:

  1. First things first. Does your idea match with TTL Aims and Principles? Have a look at them here.
  2. It does? then the next thing to do is to have a look at the list of groups. Is there a group there which sounds like it might cover your idea?
  3. If there is, get in touch with the named contact and have a chat. If the group is already doing your thing, great! You can join the group and get stuck in.
  4. If the group is not involved with your idea at the moment. Let the contact know you are keen to get involved and promote your idea – the contact will be able to help you.
  5. No group listed for your idea? – then it’s time to start one. Look here for starters and ask the other contact points.
  6. Ask to be added to the TTL active email list here. Find out more about communication in and around TTL here.
  7. Email TTL Active and ask around your friends, neighbours and family – explain your idea and ask if anyone’s interested.
  8. With your list of people, arrange a meeting to discuss and take forward the idea.
  9. Hey presto! You have a work group to share tasks - "more hands make light work" - time to get cracking!

There’s loads of help available. Here are a few more pointers

  • The first place to go is this wiki; there are plenty of resources such as TTL Principles, running a group, how to have a successful meeting, etc.
  • Once you’ve got your group up and running please use the wiki to write-up your progress - it's important so that anyone else knows who to contact and what your group does. Look here for instructions.
  • There’s guidance on finance and funding too here.
  • You can always get in touch with other group contacts find how they got involved and how their group works.
  • And if you need further advice and not sure where to find it, contact Johnny Denis, project facilitator, (johnny.denis@virgin.net) and he will try and point you in the right direction.

If you have an idea but don't have the energy for any of the above why not simply log the idea? Maybe someone else will pick it up and turn it into action...

You can do that here:
