Transition Town Lewes Bulletin 2 September 2007
Welcome back after a summer break to Transition Town Lewes’s exciting autumn programme.
We’ve got some great events coming up – including:
- international speakers in the series: ‘Solutions to Climate Change’
- an Open Space community think tank on how to repair and rebuild our local economy and
- some inspiring events run by the food and the arts groups.
We welcome you to help Lewes to take stock and start re-creating a future based on localised food, energy sources, economy and community well-being.
We’re distributing the programme around town and are looking for someone to coordinate distribution of these and the posters throughout the autumn. This will take a couple of hours a fortnight.
We’re also looking for people who want to be involved in taking Transition Town Lewes on to the next phase of development – planning the Energy Descent Action Plan – pulling off creative projects and helping us communicate more effectively. If anyone is drawn to these aspects of TLL, please reply to this email.
We’ll be sending you a fuller bulletin after the next transition groups forum later this week; this replaces the original core group, and we will let you know how that works. TTL’s contact details remain the same, and the office will be open most weekday mornings, run as ever by volunteers.
Meanwhile here are some interesting articles/film links sent to the TTL office as a sample of world thinking.
A feature about Transition Towns and Peak Oil in yesterday’s Sunday Times here.
Article from the future by a farmer living in a post-oil intentional community here.
Inspiring think piece from Japan for Sustainability about Green Servicising: turning products into services, here.
