Projects
Over time we intend to make lots of projects happen under the Transition Leicester banner - this could be anything from practical projects such as tree planting or harvesting fruit from the city's trees, to community-building events like street parties, or awareness-raising projects such as our Transition Leicester Library.
As Transition Leicester is a volunteer-led initiative, any project will only happen through the passion and hard work of people wanting to make it happen - so please do help out with our existing projects if you can, and think about projects that you'd love to initiate yourself that can be done as a Transition Leicester project.
Current Projects
This is the community supported agriculture project that many Transition Leicester members have been working hard to develop in co-operation with Whetstone Pastures since 2009.
Our monthly cafe is a chance to get together with other people involved in Transition in Leicester to socialise and share ideas. We also use it as a space for meetings, informal discussions and events.
From January 2009, our library is a means for us to share books, DVDs and more with each other that are relevant for Transition.
Past Projects
From Ecotown to Transition Town
On September 11th 2008 we released our response to the proposed Ecotown development outside Leicester. Rather than directly opposing or supporting the proposed scheme, we tried to show how a consideration of climate change and peak oil should change the whole debate around the issue.
