Groups
As part of the Transition process, we will look to form volunteer-run groups looking at different aspects of Leicester's transition to a more localised economy. All our groups are open for anyone to get involved - getting involved with a Transition group is a great opportunity to follow your passion (whether that's for local food, renewable energy, or countless other things) and make a real difference to life in our city.
In addition to our Steering Group, we currently have three active groups at present: a Food group, focussing on developing access to a secure, nutritious and delicious food supply for the city, a Heart and Soul group, looking at how we stay emotionally and spiritually healthy during the process of transition that lies ahead, and a Local Economy group, asking the question of how we can create a truly sustainable local economy, with a focus on currency systems.
We also have a group of volunteers available for Awareness Raising activities, focussing on spreading our message far and wide across Leicester.
Over the next year, we'd love to see more people creating Transition groups to look at many other issues. These could be focussed on... energy; working with local businesses; working with Local Government; transport; basically anything that needs thinking about and needs to change in the years ahead!
If you've got an interest in a particular aspect of Leicester's transition, and are interested in helping to set up a group, get in touch.
