TTK AT KINSALE ARTS WEEK
TTK is thrilled to be involved in this year’s Arts Week, which as you know takes place between 12th and 20th July.
We are facilitating two specific events during the week. The first is during Family Day, Sunday 13th July, and members of TTK will coordinate ‘The Big Build’ in which children of all ages are welcome to help construct a BFG (Big Friendly Giant) using recycled materials and old rubbish. This takes place in Short Quay between 3pm and 5pm. The BFG is, of course, a book by Roald Dahl, a reading of which takes place later on at 6pm in Short Quay – bring your own copy and join in The Big Read!
Then on Saturday 19th there is a Cultural Awareness Day at Kinsale College of Further Education. You can watch Transition TV, participate in a cob (traditional building material) workshop, sample some tasty refreshments at the Fair Trade café and watch a performance of Amnesty International’s ‘Footprint of Roses’. This all happens between 2pm and 6pm. All these events are free, so hope to see you there!
Kinsale Community Powerdown 2008
Kinsale Community Powerdown 2008 was launched at the Spring Fair by Trevor Sargent TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. We are looking for individual households, businesses and other organistions who would like to take part in making small pledges and changes to reduce their carbon footprints, energy consumption and save money.

Wild Food Walks
Ever wanted to find out what you could munch on when out in the countryside with nary a café, shop nor a snack bar around for miles?
Come on one of our Wild Food Walks and learn about food that’s growing out there in the fields and hedgerows. We aim to have one these every month or so, depending on the season, on a Saturday morning.
The best way to find out is come to a public meeting (third Thursday of every month, 7pm in Hamlet’s) which is when we plan them or join our emailing list at:
www.groups.google.com/group/transition_town_kinsale
and we’ll send you a reminder.
