Wednesday 19 May 2010"SELCHP Energy Recovery Facility Visit, Bermondsey" As a forerunner to the Waste to Energy Debate on 8th June, arrangements have been made to visit a local facility which has been in operation since 1994. The visit will start at 1pm and will be in two parts: a presentation followed by a question & answer session, and a tour of the site with more opportunities to question the guide. Members of the local community are on the monitoring committee, and there is a good mutual relationship. Their website www.selchp.com has a map and details on how to get there (South Bermondsey), but there will be a group leaving from Waterloo Station at midday. There’s a voluntary donation of approx £8 per head which funds local community projects. Interested? Numbers are limited to 25, so book early. Email Julie Middleditch at ajmiddle@talk21.com, and she’ll put you on the list.
Tuesday 8 June 2010"Waste to Energy Debate" A contentious issue locally is the possibility of a local facility that burns waste to produce energy. A number of different views on this exist within TTK, so we have organised this debate to tease out the pros and cons, following on from our visit to a facility in Bermondsey on 19 May. More details of the debate to follow.
Wednesday 28 - Saturday 31 July 2010"Electric Vehicle Exhibition" in Kingston's Market Square
