Kenmore Kenmore District startedIn July 2008 as Small Steps for Sustainable Suburbs with a public meeting organised by a few Kenmore neighbours in response to concerns about the combined effects of Peak Oil and Climate Change. At this inaugural meeting the term ‘transition towns’ entered the discussion.
In the process of evolving to Transition Towns: Kenmore District, 3 projects have already been initiated. 1. A community garden 2. A collective buying group for Solar Hot water systems 3. A farmers market
Our monthly meetings will move to the 3rd Wednesday of the month in 2009. Last meeting for 2008 will be November 26th 7:30pm Uniting Church Hall 982 Moggill Rd Kenmore Our guest speaker will be Rob Pekins co-founder of Food Connect: bringing local farmers produce direct to "city cousins".
