Hi there guys,

Marion and I both attended the transition town training course this weekend just gone (19th & 20th of October) and thought that I would just share some thoughts on the event.

For me the greatest part of the weekend was the chance to meet up with 14 other like minded and driven people, they were all white and mostly middle aged however there were some younger people represented.

The course its self was maybe aimed at people who are maybe just feeling their way into the transition model and maybe not fully aware of all of the issues so day one was a presentation on "climate change" and "Peak Oil" which was basically just reenforcing what I already knew.

Various other presentations ensued over the couple of days including some useful stuff about visioning and group dynamics. It emerged that pretty much every one went there expecting to learn how to implement the "Open space" techniques but that was not really covered.

We have been given copies of all of the presentations and so might be able to use them at meetings we might have at a later date.

Over all the weekend cost me £220 all in, but on reflection I do think that it was well worth its while in so far as it allowed some networking and bouyed me with the stories of how other people approached their local issues.

Role on the Transition conference when ever that might be.

Best regards

Darren
