1. The Action List O/Action: Darren to give guidance on how to update the action list
2. Food Buying Group The first delivery will be on Sunday 27th September. The Group meets again in early October to discuss progress.
3. CSA/Allotments Lydya & Mark visited the “orchard” at Ruth&Paul Harding’s organic farm in Theddingworth . It is a one-acre apple tree nursery that has been left and become very overgrown, there is a mix of root stock trees and many apple varieties. They also have a large walnut tree and sweet chestnuts on other parts of the farm. It was suggested at the Steering Group that we could perhaps meet there in October to have our own apple event- pruning, identifying and picking fruit, maybe juicing some fruit. Garden Organic has its apple day on October 4th and TT Leicester have one on October 31st http://www.transitiontowns.org/Leicester/Appleday09
Action: All to arrange an apple tree event.
At a previous meeting Darren had reported by e-mail that LCC have farmland assets available in the District but are a distance from Harborough itself. O/Action: Darren to contact Northamptonshire CC to ask the same question
We are still interested in working with F3 local food consultancy in Stroud http://www.localfood.org.uk/community08.htm O/Action: Saran to pursue funding and support for proposed workshop of f3 Stroud project with local food producers O/Action: Sarah to contact Seldom Seen Farm at Billesdon who do pick your own fruit (and meat production) to find out more about them
4. Social Enterprise East Midlands see http://www.seem.uk.net/ O/Action: Mary to contact SEEM to find out what they do and whether any grants are available
5. Tree Planting We need to assess how many trees, types of trees and sundry other requirements for grant application. Probably for next year now. O/Action: Lydya to pursue calculating numbers of trees and locations required Lydya has 2 North American Heartnut trees from a nursery in SW England to plant locally. Action: Lydya to find out more details of the Heartnut tree For example - http://www.localharvest.org/heartnut-tree-seeds-C11377
8. Library Books & Display Mark contacted members for book/DVD suggestions and offers to purchase them but didn’t receive any new ideas. Action: Mark to apply to Carnival Fund for money to purchase library books
9. Transition Town Film The short film “In Transition” will be available soon from HQ for screening. It was agreed that TTMH should watch the film on DVD themselves before trying to do any public showing, which would cost £70 to show publicly. Mark circulated details of film: http://transitionculture.org/2009/08/11/transition-movie-in-transition-1-0-release-schedule-and-prices/
10. LCC And Transition O/Action: Sarah to discuss possible projects for LCC funding with Dr. Sarah Hill and to circulate documents

12. 10:10 and Edward Garnier We believe that Edward is participating in the 10% reduction in carbon footprint in 2010 campaign (10:10), he has said he would be happy to do a publicity photo shot in Town for this. One possibility might be to invite him on the day of the big switch off (fri 16 October) being organised by LCC Action: Mark to liaise with Edward on visit arrangements
It was agreed that we could offer some support to local people who wanted to try to reduce their carbon footprint next year, Details on 10:10 can be found on the Guardian web-site amongst others. Here is a link to a useful summary of energy-saving areas and ideas on the site. http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/sep/01/how-to-reduce-emissions-10-10
