TTMH Steering Group Meeting Minutes 10 May 2009 Mark's House

0. Ruth Halberda attended the meeting, Ruth is also involved with the Green Team at St.Nicholas Church and writes letters in the Mail on allotment issues

1. Announcement from Marion Turner

Marion has been having a difficult time personally and has announced that she would be stepping back from direct involvement in the TTMH Steering Group and its activities. This would happen straight away. She wishes us well in our activities and hoped to join in at some point in the future.

Action: The Group to thank Marion for her massive contribution to establishing and running TTMH

2. Newcombe Street Orchard

Action: Darren to keep Group informed of Orchard Campaign

Action: All to write to local Councillors on behalf of the Campaign, both standard and individualized letters are encouraged

Action: Members are invited to attend visit by Edward Garnier to the Orchard on Friday May 22nd 7.30pm

3. Food Buying Group

It was agreed that first of all a Group meeting should be held to help gather our thoughts, concerns and interests together into a proposal with which we could then present to other interested people in Harborough area to form a food buying group.

Action: Darren to invite TTMH Group members to meeting on Friday June 5th at 7.00pm at Angel Hotel Bar

Darren also mentioned to the meeting that Mary Weston was interested in working with TT meat-eaters to set up an organic beef CSA scheme.

Action: Darren to follow-up

4. Projects

Following a meeting on fund raising between Sarah, Darren and Christine Barrett from Voluntary Action South Leicestershire , it was agreed that TTMH should use a "Project Development Form" for each of its funding proposals. The forms will help to better define the projects, and they can be discussed further with Christine.

5. Project - Tree Planting

It was agreed that we need to visit the proposed planting areas. A leaflet would need to be produced for circulation to local residents, to be informative of the project and to recruit volunteers to look after the trees after planting. We would need to seek approval for the selected trees and sites from at minimum the Council.

Action: Darren/Lydya to arrange Group visit to proposed planting areas.

Action: Darren to produce maps of areas for proposed planting

Action: Mark to give copy of Permorganics (Northampton) nut and fruit tree list

6. Project - Library Books

Mark will lead this project which aims to purchase a set of books and DVDs on Transition to give to the Harborough Library and to arrange for a display on the Group and its activities in the library highlighting the books.

Action: ALL to send Mark a list of their favourite Transition books/DVDs

7. AOB

(Additional item added by Sec : TTMH will be at the Harborough Carnival Field on Sat June 13th as part of Green Network stall, details and offers of help to Sarah please)

Darren and Lydya have recently been on the LCC Master Composter course and are available to give advice etc..

The autographed books from Bob Flowerdew have reappeared and now need to raffled off to raise funds for the Group debt. Action: Mark to make agenda item for next meeting

Darren is giving talks on TTMH to Stamford TT Group and to the Harborough District Labour Party.

Darren has ceased e-publication of the TT Newsletter due to lack of input from the Group, many thanks to Darren for the editions he has produced.
