07/01/2009 - Steering group meeting

Present: Darren Woodiwiss, Marion Turner, Sarah Clarke, Philip White, Susan Tilly Apologies: Mark Baverstock, Lydya Tappleby, Ian Snaith

Many items were discussed but the short list of projects for now and their champions with a few action points is as follows.

  • 1) Orchard clean up – 28/02/2009//
    • a. Darren Woodiwiss is champion and Phil White his faithful companion//
    • b. Dreaming workshop for what we could do with the land if use is obtained//
    • c. TT Newcombe street group to organize logistics for day//
    • d. Notify Council officially – MT
    • e. Ask Sarah Hill about power tools
    • f. Sue Hill to ask HDC environmental about shredder and other equipment
  • 2) Spring Raffle
    • a. To be re-addressed after the Orchard clear up
  • 3) Food buying group
    • a. Sarah Clarke is the champion for this seconded by Darren Woodiwiss
    • b. Short list of companies to purchase from
      • i. Goodness foods
      • ii. Daily bread
      • iii. Leicester whole foods cooperative
  • 4) Fund raising meeting, one off
    • a. As the group is in deficit at the moment a source of funding is required
    • b. ST \ MT \ DW \ MB probable attendees
  • 5) Skills Exchange
    • a. To see if there is an appetite for this and implement
    • b. Marion Turner and Sarah Clarke
  • 6) Garden dating
    • a. Link in with Hugh Fernley-Whitingstalls land share scheme
    • b. On Hold for now
  • 7) Tree planting
    • a. HDC have identified as needing planting
      • i. Roman Way
      • ii. Ashley Way
    • b. Fruit and nut trees for an edible landscape
    • c. Plant in October to maybe get some Woodland trust funding, tree week
