TT Market Harborough - Meeting Notes 6/5/08

Notes :

1. Information Stall On Carnival Day

Mark has applied for a stall on the showground after the carnival on Sat Jun 14th. The stall will be shared with FOE and other green groups in Harborough to give out information, chat with public etc..

There is also a green fair at Burton Overy in the morning on the same day.

2. A Series Of Public Meetings On Food

Darren is arranging a series of public meetings on food, invited speakers include Tony Wardle on VIVA and Patrick Holden from Soil Association. There will also be a public meeting with local food growers.

Chris suggested a tie-in with Radio Leicester to have debate on issues.

3. An Information Stall At The Farmers Market

Darren suggested this.

4. Presentations To Local Groups

It was thought that we should be giving presentations to local groups such as Rotarians, Churches Together, Business Breakfast Club etc..

5. Healthy- Eating For Low Incomes

Sarah suggested a course be run on this topic.

6. Buying Group

It was thought that we could get together in a group to buy certain food and other items in bulk. Sarah would find out about the Leicester Wholefood Coop. Darren would find out about Daily Bread in Northampton.

7. The Media

Chris gave names of some good contacts at Radio Leicester when we have new stories with angles for programme makers. Kay Wright – Producer Of Breakfast Show Bridget Blair – Reporter (also with Radio4) Chris Brindley – Producer Of Mid-morning programme

8. Guerrilla Bagging

Sarah showed article from Resurgence magazine on making shopping bags from old material which are then handed out. See www.morsbags.com .

9. Bowden Charities

Sarah said that the local charity had land as well as money in its portfolio. We could follow this up by talking to Godfrey Payton from the Charity.
