TT Market Harborough - Meeting Minutes 17/4/08 Present: Darren Woodiwiss (DW) John Evans (JE) Lydya Tappleby (LT) Marion Turner (MT) Mark Baverstock (MB) Sue Wakeling (SW)

1. Review Of Previous Minutes The minutes of the meeting of 24.2.08 were returned to for actions. The time since then has largely beentaken up by the Megan Quinn visit. Outstanding : Action: MT to start making a spider diagram of hernetwork of contacts. This will be useful Who’s Who.

Action: DW to contact Harborough Council about theOrchard, proposing the integration of the plot intoany future housing development, in the meantime thetrees would be managed by TTMH.

Action: MT to arrange meeting with NEF Local AlchemyConsultants to discuss how their tools can be used inthe TT process

2. New Members John and Sue attended the meeting for the first time.

Action: MT to send out a note explaining how Councilsand Local Government works with respect to LAA and LSPetc.. This will be very useful reference for new andexisting members.

John suggested that we look at obtaining a plot ofland for sustainable self-build housing projects.

Action: MB to put on the agenda for next time.

3. Financial Report & Megan Quinn Evening The evening was thought by all to have been a success. There was a small profit made which will boost funds.The refreshments stall had been particularlysuccessful and contributed significantly to theevening takings. Action: DW to ask Harborough Mail for a copy of thevideo footage they took on the evening and used ontheir website.

Action: MT to ask Megan Quinn about pricing of thepower of community DVD so we can get extra copies tosell

Action: DW to send e-mails to Megan Quinn & Richard Heinberg to thank them and send copies of e-mails and any replies to Steering Group

4. Funding & Strategic Thinking There was a discussion on the need to develop astrategic plan for our activities but we first need tobe clear on what our vision actually is. The firststep will be to dream about our personal utopia andthen secondly to apply them to imagine HarboroughDistrict in 2020 (say).

Action: MT to send out list of possible dates forworkshop on dreaming our own utopias Action: MT to arrange for a facilitator for theworkshop

Action: MT to visit nearby Nagarjuna Buddhist Centreto tell them about TT to see if they are interested insupporting TT initiative 5. Great Glen Eco-Town (Pennbury)

Action: MT to arrange meeting with Co-operativeEstates Group to discuss how TT thinking can beintegrated into their plans for eco-town.

6. TT Training Enterprise MB read out the vision statement from London-basedsustainability consultancy BeyondGreen.As an example of what we should be aiming at. It was agreed that we should find out about resourcesavailable at local universities that can help usprovide a think tank for TT

Action: JE to ask Nottingham University about theirsustainable environment department

7. Local TT Networking It was agreed that we should reach out to otherformative TT groups in the area

Action: DW to contact Ashby Parva, Cotesbach andLutterworth
