1. Visit Of Megan Quinn
Megan is coming and probable date is April 2nd. The agreed venue is Octagon Hall at Welland Park College.
Action : DW to confirm date of Megan's visit by 29.2.08 to allow arrangements to be made. DW to book hall and film equpment.
Action: DW/SC to get together a contact list for local media Action: DW/SC to produce a press release proforma and a press release for this event Action: DW/SC to revamp the website Action: DW/SC to design & print tickets and provide electronic tickets through internet Action: DW/SC to design & print A4 and A3 posters Action: MT/DW to organize design & printing of A2 posters - 12 off
Tickets to be sold through Council Offices. ABC Music and from Darren.
Action: MB/DW to check with ABC and Council
Action : Special planning meeting to be held on March 8th at 2pm at Darren's to make arrangements
2. Visit Of Richard Heinberg
Richard will be coming but probably on a different date from Megan. It was agreed that he should be available for a larger audience and that his main talk should therefore happen in Leicester, the Peepul Centre would be a good venue. Publicity and ticket sales in Harborough would still be actively pursued.
Action: MT to liase with Cotesbach, Billesdon and Leicester contacts to arrange co-hosting of this event
DW has written letters to the Council about co-hosting this visit. Action: DW to also write to Neville Stork at Leicester Partnership and Kevin Baillie Head of Sustainable Economic Development at EMDA
3. Fund Raising
Letter sent to Harborough Impovement Team new man, Chris Sewart, but no reply as yet.
Remaining sponsorship request letters for Megan Quinn visit are about to be sent off, no replies as yet Action: SC to do this
Action: MT to attend Harborough Community Forum on March 3rd to ask questions about possible funding from LAA (local area agreements) and their strategy.
MT has been investigating funding available for TT Initiatives from the National Lottery and from UnLtd an organization that supports social entrepreneurs. Action: MT to arrange meeting with Regional Advisor for National Lottery to discuss different pots of money available.
4. Sustainable Billesdon
Action: DW to attend Sustainable Billesdon meeting on Tuesday March 4th to talk about Transition Towns and how we can work together.
5. The Orchard
Action: SC/DW to check future status of land with the Council, and write letter proposing to take over management of the orchard land. Action: SC to put together an action plan and estimated costs
6. Allotments And Garden Dating Agency
MT described her idea of sharing gardens and allotments that were not being fully worked with people who were looking for land to work. DW said that the waiting list in Harborough was 144 people long. TT could provide some assistance to run the dating agency.
Action: DW to contact John Parrot, Landscape Officer at the Council to float idea.
Action: DW to get information on The Allotment Act
7. Contact Diagram
It was agreed that the world is complicated and a diagram of who's who and how they are connected would be very useful.
Action: MT to begin process by drawing out her network of contacts
8. Climate Change Strategy
MT had copies of Lancashire Climate Change Strategy and Blackpool Council Carbon Management Strategy
Councils can show their commitment to act by signing The Nottingham Declaration on climate change (2000). By signing, they pledge to actively tackle climate change in their local area and work with others to reduce emissions country-wide. Harborough and Leicestershire have signed up for this.
Action: DW to find out about the Nottingham Declaration Action: MT to see if anything similar has been done in Harborough/Leicestershire
9. Sustainable Local Communities Conference
MT/MB/LT had attended recent NEF Conference in Leicester sponsored by the EMDA. NEF (New Economics Foundation) have a consultancy arm called Local Alchemy, they are interested in working with TT. Action: MT to arrange meeting with them
NEF initiative on Clone Towns produced a Clone Town Survey form which LT and MT will carry out with reporter from Harborough Mail.
