Transition Towns are all about discovering local resource and utilising it in a sustainable manner for the benefit of the local community.
When I recently discovered that a plot of land that I thought was scrub used to be an orchard with mature apple and pear trees it seemed obvious that it should be utilised more some how.
Ownership of this land has been traced to HDC and a request has been put through Councillor Swatridge to see what uses have been earmarked for this land in the future. This is with a view to bringing this plot under community control and producing nutricious food for and by the community.
