Transition Harborough was invited to address a meeting of interested parties in Stamford with a view to founding their own Transition Initiative.
The meeting at the New College was attended by over 20 people from a variety of backgrounds including the local FOE, U3A and councilors from the Town and District Council. I gave the same presentation that I gave to the Rotary club and the Labour & Co-Operative party last week and it was very well received with a healthy deluge of questions.
The call was made at the end for volunteers to put their names down to form the initial Steering Group for the town and around a dozen names were offered with others offering to give occasional assistance at events. The evening finished with an offer to address the full town council meeting by one of the Town Councillors that was present.
A donation envelope was passed around at the end and half of the proceeds, to the sum of £8, was donated to Transition Harborough.
Many thanks to Val Harvey for organizing the event and we look forward to working together in the future.
