Interested in Composting? We certainly are and because of this both Lydya Tappleby and I attended the second Leicestershire County Council Master Composting course. This course is run by "Go Organic" formally the "Henry Doubleday Reasearch Foundation" so named after the person who bread the "Bocking 14" Comfrey strain.

The first day was a general insight into the scheme and what was expected of volunteers (30 hours of volunteer time) and an oversight of composting. Essentially it was a chance to meet the other volunteers and we was also addressed by a volunteer from the first course in November.

On the second day we travelled to the "Go Organic" site of Ryton Gardens where we had our composting deep theory course and a walk around the composting area of the site. A couple of us then stole away to look at the rest of the gardens which are very impressive. What was even more impressive was the catering on site, we had the most delicious meal there and I would recomend it to anyone that went there.

So there it is, Harborough now has two Master Composters eager and waiting to attend events around the area to man stalls on the subject of composting with the aid of resources from the County Council. We have asked if HDC would store some materials so we do not need to drive to Glenfield to get the materials but have had no reply as yet.
