Meeting With Sue Smith, CEO of HDC
Transition Town Market Harborough was delighted to be offered the opportunity to meet with Sue Smith the Chief Executive of Harborough District council to introduce the initiative and to have Megan Quinn speak to her on the subject of Peak Oil.
The meeting started with Megan giving a brief appraisal of ‘Peak Oil’ and the issues surrounding the impending energy security issues. Sue was keen to show that she was aware of the issue to put our minds at rest.
Sue went on to describe the other organisations that she is involved with including the ‘Royal Institute of British Architects’ where she is a non-executive director.
When we described the things that we would like to do in the community and how we would like to work in harmony with the council she suggested that we get in contact with Norman Proudfoot the ‘Environmental Services Manager’ at HDC, she also mentioned that the ‘Bowdens Charity’ is actively looking for projects to invest in within the boundaries of Harborough and Great Bowden.
All in all it was a very satisfying meeting and it was suggested that we have input into the councils ‘Climate change strategy’ that is currently being formed where we will try and bring the ‘Peak Oil’ issue into the remit of this policy.
