Transition Glastonbury's 'Heart and Soul' Group This group is looking at the 'inner transitions' that are part of the journey as we move from this 'industrial growth society' towards creating a more sustainable way of life. So far we have been drawing on the 'Work That Re-connects' (group-work resources based on the work of Joanna Macy, John Seed and many others in the deep ecology movement). We are offering monthly evening workshops with a variety of themes. We plan to expand the heart and soul aspect of TG by looking at how we can include the arts more- poetry- visual arts-film making as a means of raising awareness and evoking our connection to the earth. The other aspect of this group's role is to look around at what else is going on that can feed into this area, so get in touch if you are offering anything which fits into this area 2009 Workshop ProgrammeWednesday & Thursday 8th- 9th July Crossing Stony Ground - Renewing and sustaining the Journey with STARHAWK Starhawk is one of the most respected voices in modern earth-based spirituality. She is also well-known as a global justice activist and organizer, whose work and writings have inspired many to action. She is the author or coauthor of ten books, including The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess, long considered the essential text for the Neo-Pagan movement, and the now-classic ecotopian novel The Fifth Sacred Thing. Starhawk's newest book is The Earth Path: Grounding Your Spirit in the Rhythms of Nature. She is a veteran of progressive movements, from anti-war to anti-nukes, and is deeply committed to bringing the techniques and creative power of spirituality to political activism. Together with Penny Livingston-Stark and Erik Ohlsen, she co-teaches EAT, Earth Activist Trainings, intensive seminars that combine permaculture design, political organizing, and earth-based spirituality The workshop runs from 2pm Wednesday- 4.30 Thursday including an evening event which is also open to Transition folk not attending the whole workshop if booked in advance (£15) by June 8th.
