FOOD AND GROWING GROUP COORDINATORS
TTB Food & Growing is one of the largest of the working groups with over 500 people on its mailing list and a large number of members who are actively involved in food & growing projects across the borough. We have eight strands of activity to help us support our members, engage with partners (including the Council) and provide skills, information and inspiration to the community. Some of these strands are more progressed than others and we are looking for enthusiastic people to take a lead on areas they are interested in. In the last year we have held a number events and made big steps forwards in the prepartion for writing our EDAP (Energy Descent Action Plan); we are in the process of estabishing a team to take forward the development of this Plan and would welcome your involvement.
Just before Christmas, Penny Noy, Katy Press and Katy Thompson took over from Bonnie Hewson and Zoe Leventhal covering the key leadership and admin responsibilities. However, this active and vibrant group is still in need of some organised, visonary, communicative and energetic food lovers to get involved in steering and administrating. if you have been waiting to get involved in TTB and have an affinity for food (and who doesn't?!) then please get in touch and get involved.
Please contact ttbfood@gmail.com.
Reskilling Assistants
What is Reskilling? - TTB has launched its reskilling program to help the people of Brixton learn skills that have been lost over the last 50 years and which will be needed after peak oil. The Reskilling Program will offer courses in areas including food and growing, sustainable energy, sustainable building construction/maintenance, transport, carpentry, textiles/clothing, health, cleaning and computing. A summary of what has been done so far can be found here - http://transitiontowns.org/Brixton/Reskilling
To attract people to teach and learn skills I have asked people to fill in their interest onto this form - http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=cHc1blpoOWE2SzN3RjZvRjhySTdlTHc6MA..
What would the role involve? - This will involve supporting the Reskilling Coordinator in running courses in the above areas. This will involve booking a tutor and venue, advertising the course and signing people up. Reskilling Assistants will get a free place on the course they organise.
How much time will it involve? - This is a voluntary role so the amount of time you give is flexible and will depend on your other commitments.
If you are interested or have any questions please email ttbreskilling@gmail.com
NEIGHBOURHOOD GROUP COORDINATOR [THIS ROLE IS NOW FILLED - but you can still get involved!]
Neighbourhood Groups are sub-groups within TTB that aim to get people involved in greening activities at a local level. Two models for this approach are Hyde Farm CAN and ASSA CAN. Other neighbourhood groups in Brixton include Thornbury Road green group, Dumbarton Court green group and Blenheim Gardens Edible Estate. Susan Sheehan from Hyde Farm CAN has been supporting these groups but because she is now working across the whole of Lambeth as Green Community Champions Officer there is a need for someone to specifically coordinate Brixton groups and link them in with Transition Town Brixton. There is also a need to get more neighbourhood groups going in the Brixton area, particularly in the Low Carbon Zone. Susan is very keen to support this role. A key element of this role is to attend TTB convener group meetings and feed back to neighbourhood groups.
This is a voluntary role so the amount of time you give is flexible and will depend on your other commitments.
If you are interested or have any questions please Email SSheehan@lambeth.gov.uk or vannin2001@yahoo.co.uk

This is a voluntary role so the amount of time you give is flexible and will depend on your other commitments.
