Transition Bellingen

Transition Bellingen is a part of a global transition network that aims to build resilience so local communities can survive, and even thrive, in the face of global challenges like Peak Oil and Climate Change.

During 2009 we focussed on awareness-raising about these issues and invited our community to reflect with us on how Bellingen could be even better than it already is and to develop a vision of a better, more resilient Bello - whatever the future brings.

In 2010 we'll be developing a Bellingen Transition Action Plan to turn some of the visions into reality - which is what the transition pioneers in Totnes are calling their Energy Descent Plan.

We recognise that all transition initiatives are experimental: we are learning by doing. We like these words by a Spanish poet: "Traveler, there is no road. We make the road by walking"!

We welcome fellow travelers to come along to community events like Transition Movie Nights and Transition Cafe Conversations, or just join our mailing list (contact us) to stay up to date about local happenings.

Community Visioning

In December 2009 Transition Bellingen held a Visioning Fair to present the amazing range of vision ideas that had been collected through workshops that invited perspectives on our ideal future, seen through the lenses of what we would like to Refuse, Cherish, Recover and Create. In 2010 there'll be more opportunities to contribute to the emerging vision, as well as connect with others who want to work together to turn aspects of it into reality.

Transition Movie Nights

Transition Bellingen's popular 'movies in the park' events got the year underway on 30 January with a great selection of short films . February's movie program will be announced soon ...
