Projects
- Encouraging local plumbers to install solar hot water by facilitating a workshop on the proper installation of evacuated tubes. We hope to be able to set up a bulk buying and installation scheme soon.
- We are working on a long term project to put photovoltaic cells (solar panels) on public buildings by creating a rolling fund that applies all savings to funding additional panels. The current plan is to start with the swimming pool. Mahalath Halperin will be doing an energy audit on the pool(see photo), an important first step in looking at ways to reduce energy use. We plan to approach the Council soon about creating the rolling fund and getting permission to use the swimming pool because it is a visible, popular venue to launch the project.
- We have written to all the local schools encouraging them to apply for the special schools grants for solar energy and to let us know if there is anything we can do to support them.
