Tuesday Open Forum

JULY 7th, 7 pm at Kent House, 141 Faulkner St (opp. Central Park).

Money, and the vulnerability of an economic system based on continuous growth, is the subject of the next Tuesday Forum organised by Sustainable Living Armidale – A Transition Initiative (SLA).

Dr Judith McNeill, an economist with a special interest in programs for regional development, will share her thoughts on why the global economy is in such turmoil, and the impact of this on local areas such as Armidale. Kevin Dupé, CEO of New England Credit Union, will join Dr McNeill and present his perspective.

“It seems inevitable that there will be a return to local capacities, local economies, local production of goods and services. If this is a planned and orderly change, we may experience a stronger sense of community and more satisfying lives,” Dr. McNeill said.

The talk will be followed by an open discussion about policies that might strengthen the capacity of a local community, including the localisation of investment and enterprise.
